Flower show at Sentosa

This is super long overdue, I know! But here's where I went to with my family because Chinese New Year can be sooooo boring.

Haagen-Dazs High Tea Affair set: Ice-cream Macaroons - have you tried them before?

Haagen-Dazs invited me and three of my friends to high tea on Friday for its "Girls' Day Out" event. My besties are really these two guys - L and KZ (and my girlfriends are all at work on a Friday afternoon anyway), so my girls' day out was with my boys.

I was wearing a basic tank top from Cotton On, denim shirt that I just bought from Japan, and Marc by Marc Jacobs shades.

This is L, all decked out in his new gear from Japan too. Check out his blog here.

The star of the day is the three-tier high tea set - High Tea Affair ($38++).

The first-tier is made up of three mini scoops each of Cookie Dough Chip, Belgian Chocolate and Strawberry ice-cream. (My fave is the Belgian Chocolate. Yes, all the time.)

The second-tier is super special, made up of six ice-cream macaroons (yes, everything is ice-cream).

Followed by kiwis, raspberries and grapes.

While the ice-cream macaroons are a little too sweet for me, I'm guessing that the interesting presentation and texture will be a hit with most sweet-tooth people out there.

If you really like the ice-cream macaroons or just want to sample them (without the fruits and ice-cream mini scoops), you could go with the Macaroon Melange ($18++), which is made up of only five ice-cream macaroons)

The Petite Temptations ($18++) is a limited edition offering for Haagen-Dazs. This features chunks of buttery cookie dough and sweet fudge topped with Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice-cream and drizzles of mango and chocolate sauce.

This is actually my favourite from the treat. I love how the texture of the cookie adds an interesting dimension to the ice-cream. The aroma of confectionery from the cookie also makes the ice-cream more savoury.

These new offerings are available at all Haagen-Dazs shops in Singapore, from now till 31 May. Go for it while it lasts!

New hangout haunt in town: Maison Ikkoku

When I last visited Maison Ikkoku, it was a cozy cafe with shopping options. Now it finally completes its three-in-one concept of cafe, boutique and bar with a semi-alfresco cocktail bar.

The cocktail bar is helmed by Ethan Leslie Leong, who has over 18 years of experience as a bartender and mixologist. When you visit Maison Ikkoku, be sure to order the two signature Maison Ikkoku cocktains - MI1 White French Maid ($25)and MI2 Passionate Moment ($22).

The former is rich and features Coffee Liquor, French Caramel Liquor, Vodka, Fresh Milk and Coffee Beans; the latter is a refreshing drink concocted with Fresh Passionfruit, Lemon, Rosemary, Gin and Vodka.

Other innovative cocktails to check out include:

Rose Seduction ($25), a floral concoction that will find favour with the ladies, featuring French Rose Liquor, Gin, Vodka, Lemon and Rose.

Golden Goose Martini ($25), an elegant drink that's concocted with Fresh Goose Berries, Lemon, French Pink Grapefruits Liquor and Vodka.

French Berries Sour ($20), a refreshing cocktail that's made from Fresh Raspberries, Lemon, Fresh Mint and Menthe Pastile (a French liquor).

Maison Ikkoku is located at 20 Kandahar Street Singapore 198885. The bar is open from Monday to Thursday (6pm-1am), Friday, Saturday and Eve of Public Holidays (6pm-2am). Closed on Sundays.
