Japanese pasta at Yomenya Goemon at City Link Mall

I hope you like pasta because you're going to see a lot of different pasta in this entry!

Leslie and I walked past Yomenya Goemon after the Swissotel & Fairmont's Christmas party and told ourselves we're visiting it.

So we were back!

Each of us ordered a half-pasta set - that's two half-bowl of pastas plus miso soup and drink in each set.

The servings are so generous, doesn't feel like "half" bowl.

Leslie didn't have enough and decided to get another bowl. So I get to try some of it too.

Overall it was a very fulfilling meal, the pasta were all very nicely done. The only complaint I would have is the   of the seafood aglio olio. I found it a little too bland. Leslie's seafood cream pasta is the most gratifying, and the tomato pasta is pretty good too :)

Sushi Tei - For affordable and yummy Japanese food

When it comes to family-styled Japanese restaurants, Sushi Tei is my all-time fave.

And my fave sushi from them?

THIS:

I'd always eye it the moment I sit next to the conveyer belt.

Taste heavenly.

Another must-order is this: Salmon, salmon belly and roe.

This is a new creation that came about during Sushi Tei's chef's competition - avocado and spring roll skin. Actually, it isn't fantastic.

Dai dai roll - die die must order.

This is quite an indulgence too.

Beef lovers will be pleased with this.

Soft shell crab maki. Love the crunch from the crab and texture of the roe.

Salt ice-cream and mango ice-cream.

Cheap and decent Japanese food court at North Point

Do you know that there's this entire area that sets aside for Japanese food at Northpoint?

I stumbled upon it some time ago and decided to hop over there for dinner.

The interior doesn't look spectacular but at least there are some thoughts put into it.

The selections are fine - there's sushi, ramen, omelette rice and this area that's set apart for those who want to enjoy buffet.

The sashimi weren't particularly fresh nor succulent, but did you expect it to be restaurant standard?

This is what I had. Omelette rice with scallops in cream sauce. It may not look very fab but hey, it's pretty decent!

My companion had Omelette rice with chicken cutlet in curry.

They've got quite a few of these "lantern" lamps.

The prices are really affordable - think food court prices and if you arrive early (like, 7pm or before that), you can get a seat easily.

Any affordable food recommendation?
